Lots of contact into turn 1 with the two Alpines and one of the Alpha Tauris into a bit of bother as well. Russell has made up good places now running P13. The McLarens got off the line well with Piastri somehow getting to P2 with Norris in P3. Lap 5, despite Sainz running on the soft tyres and Leclerc on the mediums Ferrari are not swapping the drivers yet to potentially try and chase Hamilton. Lap 8, Perez uses DRS to get past Alonso for P7 and now chasing the Ferraris. Lap 9, Zhou has a 5 second penalty for the 1st lap collision with the Alpha Tauri as Albon pits for the Hard compound tyres. Lap 35, Russell makes a lovely move on the inside of turn 1 on Bottas as Sargeant comes into the pits for hard tyres. Perez and Hamilton are picking up the pace as Perez is looking likely for the podium.

40-50

Hamilton is defending well from Perez as the top 3 remain the same but trouble at Ferrari as Leclerc is questioning the strategy calls. Lap 43, Piastri and Perez are in the pits with the Red Bull team having an outstanding 1.9 second pit stop for Perez. Leclerc is now in the pits followed by Alonso who is running in P9 follows by his team mate Stroll. Leclerc is under investigation for his pit stop as it looked as if he could be penalised for speeding in the pit lane. Lap 47, Perez is closing in on Piastri as Piastri forces Perez wide into turn 1 as Perez gets the upper hand but Piastri keeps the pressure on as he runs onto the grass and is shown the black and white flag for track limits and Perez is noted by the stewards. In his return to F1, Ricciardo has made up some places after the lap 1 collision and is running P13 behind Bottas. Albon and Bottas are running a close battle as Bottas is putting the pressure on Albon. As Perez is putting on the pressure, Norris sounds a little stressed on the radio as he is informed of the gap to Perez. Lap 57, Hamilton is back in P4 as he uses DRS to get ahead of Piastri.

60-70

Norris has been complaining about the back markers he is trying to get past saying that they are not getting out of the way quick enough also mentioning that they “are not racing for anything”. Verstappen is looking comfortable for the race win as Perez is now 3 seconds to Norris with 8 laps to go.
