1-10

Yuki Tsunoda stopped on the formation lap with an engine failure as there was a delay at the start.

All drivers make it off the line well as Sainz is still in the lead at the end of lap 2. Russell and Perez are putting pressure on Leclerc in P3. Lap 2, Albon is able to get past Piastri for P6. Lap 6 heading into the first corner Verstappen tries to use DRS to get past Sainz but runs out of room in doing so. Perez and Russell are staying reasonably close as Albon is following them in P6 followed by the two McLarens, Hamilton and the HAAS of Hulkenberg finishing the top 10. In lap 8, Russell defends well against the move of Perez who tries for the outside but is unable to get past. Lawson who is standing in for Ricciardo, is running well in P12 with Sargeant closely behind. Lap 9, Verstappen uses DRS on the main straight but is unable to get past again.

10-20

Everyone seems to be running close together with the Alfa Romeos running P14 and P15, the two Alpines behind with Stroll and Magnussen rounding off the pack racing around the temple of speed: lap 11, Gasly in the pits for new tyres. Perez tries to make another move but Russell defends calmly and clinically into turn 1. Leclerc has dropped back from the top 2 as Verstappen is getting closer and closer. Lap 12, Zhou pits as we see Perez try yet again to get past Russell but is unable to do so. In lap 14, Perez gets past Russell but locks up in doing so and has to give the position back to Russell. Verstappen gets past Sainz in an incredibly tight battle, Sainz tries to fight back but can’t. In lap 16, Perez gets past Russell into turn 1 finally as Albon pits for new tyres. Lap 19, Sainz is now pitting for new tyres as well as Russell.

20-30

In lap 20, Leclerc is pitting with Verstappen as both Ferraris join each other on track and race each other all the way around. In lap 21, Perez pits for hard tyres and comes out behind both Ferraris and has to fight again for the podium. Lap 23, Norris pits to try and get ahead of his teammate and go onto the hard tyres. In lap 24, Russell has a penalty of 5 seconds for leaving the track and gaining an advantage as we see Piastri and Norris clash wheels going into the first corner. Lap 28, Hamilton has a 2.8 pit stop and comes out in P10.

30-40

Verstappen has pulled a 6-second lead to Sainz, Leclerc and Perez. Norris locks up into turn 1 as he tries for a move on Albon. Late breaking from Leclerc holds Perez off in turn 1 and runs off into the gravel to try and get alongside Leclerc. Lap 32, using DRS Perez breezes past Leclerc and starts the charge to Sainz. In lap 36, Albon is struggling to pull away from the McLaren of Norris despite the straight-line speed. Lap 37, Hamilton is reporting that he is unsure of how long his tyre is going to last. In lap 38, Norris tries to go around the outside but gives the place back to Albon.

40-51

Hamilton has found pace in his tyres and tries for a move on Piastri but runs out of room. Sainz is defending well against Perez who is trying to get P2. lap 42, Hamilton and Piastri touch and almost lose control as they are both assessing damage to their cars. In lap 42, Verstappen is 10 seconds in the lead as Piastri pits for a new wing but is going to be out of the points. In lap 43, Perez tries to get past Sainz into turn 1 but has to take to the escape road as Perez says that Sainz is moving under braking. Once again Perez attempts a move on the outside of turn 1 but can’t get past. In lap 44, Albon has closed the door on Norris going into the chicane as Hamilton gets a penalty for causing a collision. In lap 45, Hamilton gets past Norris on the inside of turn 1 and starts to chase Albon. Perez now gets past Sainz and is already a second ahead of Sainz. Lap 47, Sainz and Leclerc are now battling it out for the final podium position. In lap 48, the battle with Ferrari is heating up as Sainz locks up into turn 1 as Leclerc hits the curb and slides the rear end further on into the lap. Sainz late on the brakes fends off Leclerc again going into turn 1. On the final lap, Sargeant was given a 5-second penalty for causing a collision with Bottas as Leclerc locked up dramatically into turn 1 on the final lap of h the race. Verstappen breaks the world record for most consecutive wins in a season and takes the chequered flag in Monza 10/10 for Verstappen and Red Bull as Perez brings it home to make it another Red Bull 1-2. Sainz brings it home for Ferrari in P3 with Leclerc behind in P4, Credit to Ferrari who gave it everything today at their home race.
